Orders: An Update

On 1 December, I posted on this blog with an announcement that Thomia was at last available for advance purchase at a special pre-publication price of Rs 19,990.00. I mentioned that, at the time of writing, 49 copies had already been sold. Those sales took a week to achieve.

Now, another week later, and I'm pleased (though also slightly disappointed) to be able to announce that a total of 111 copies have been ordered, out of which 76 have been paid for. Each buyer has received a tax invoice and a receipt for their payment. It sounds like progress, but actually I've sold fewer copies this week than last week, and there is still a sizeable gap between earnings to date and the printer’s advance, which is due on Dec 14. As for breaking even, that magic goal is still a long, long way in the future; I dare not even think about it.

So if you’re among those who’ve placed an order and still haven’t paid, it would be wonderful if you could make your payment before this Friday (allowing a day or two for clearance when it comes to overseas payments). And if you still haven't placed an order for Thomia, I urge you to do so as soon as possible, either through the order page on the Thomia website or by sending an email to gallebuck@yahoo.co.uk.

To those of you who’ve already purchased your copy or copies of Thomia (the record to date is five copies, by the way), I thank you all most gratefully. I am in your debt – in a literal sense until delivery day, but also, in a more general sense, for the hoped-for success of the most significant work of my life.
